From my walks to your walls

In my studio

I live in the North Downs countryside in Kent, where I work from my home studio. I am a self taught artist, via diplomas in Interior Design and traditional paint techniques. I paint mainly in oils, sometimes layered over acrylics, and mixed media. My inspiration comes from walking the sweeping contours of the countryside and coastlines that surround me. The rhythm and seasonal shifts of nature are a constant inspiration.

Painting for me is both a challenge and a joy. Art has taught me to see the natural world with fresh eyes. I paint most days, and it often feels like a creative reset—an opportunity to explore colour, texture, and form in new ways.

I do like to experiment, partly for the sheer pleasure of painting, and partly to maintain creativity and observational skills, so you will find smaller galleries of portraits and still life.

One of the greatest rewards is seeing someone connect with a piece I’ve loved creating. I hope my art reflects the passion and energy I try to bring to every brushstroke.

I sell my work direct, and through private commissions, gallery exhibitions in Kent and Sussex, and the annual “Art in June” Open Studios programme. My wood frames are made in house, and I have just launched a small series of limited edition giclee prints and canvas prints to make art more affordable.

Apart from Open Studios my biggest challenge in 2025 was deciding to organise my first art fair. So, in October 2025 the inaugural Penshurst Art Fair took place. With 12 artists, an evening Private View and a weekend for the exhibition, we had about 500 visitors. It was a great success for the artists, had a really enjoyable vibe, and I was thrilled with my sales.. I enjoyed the challenge and experience, and a very quiet week afterwards! Next year is already in the planning…
